About this place
The House of Giovanni Boccaccio stands on the main street of Certaldo Alto, in the area where the writer stayed at different times in his life. Largely rebuilt after the Second World War, it now houses a museum dedicated to the author of the Decameron and the headquarters of the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio.
The museum traces his literary legacy and includes a nineteenth-century fresco by Pietro Benvenuti and a specialist library. It offers a way to explore Boccaccio’s relationship with Certaldo, alongside a visit to the palace and the churches of the village.
