About this place
The Church of Saints James and Philip stands in the heart of Certaldo Alto, beside the former Augustinian convent. The medieval brick building preserves the memory of Giovanni Boccaccio and Blessed Giulia della Rena, two figures who shaped the town’s identity in different ways.
A visit offers a chance to observe the simplicity of the architecture and the works of art and devotion kept in the church. The cloister and nearby Museum of Sacred Art complete an intimate route, to be explored with respect for religious services and the spaces used by the community.
