About this place
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta overlooks Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, opposite the Town Hall. Built in the seventeenth century on the site of an earlier church, it tells of a period of expansion in the town and its religious heritage. Its façade and relationship with the square make it a landmark on a walk through the historic centre.
Official tourism sources report that the interior is inaccessible following the 2016 earthquake and refer to reconstruction work. This entry therefore suggests a stop outside; for updates on access and reopening, contact the Pro Loco tourist association or the diocese.
