About this place
The Cathedral of San Cesareo overlooks the Foro Emiliano, in the heart of Terracina’s upper town. Built on the foundations of a Roman temple, it combines ancient and medieval elements: the portico, the bell tower and the decorations help to illustrate this continuity of use and transformation.
It is a key stop on the tour of the square and nearby monuments, and is well worth examining in detail, particularly the columns and the reused materials. Visitors should respect the church’s services and guidelines when touring the interior.
