Foro Emiliano e centro storico di Terracina

The Foro Emiliano is the heart of Upper Terracina and corresponds to the present-day Piazza del Municipio. The Roman paving of stone slabs stands alongside the cathedral, the medieval buildings and the remains of the ancient Via Appia, allowing different phases of the city’s history to be seen within the same square.

From here, you can continue on foot through the narrow streets, stairways and vantage points of the historic centre. It is a starting point for visiting the Roman Theatre and the Cathedral of San Cesareo, whilst observing how the modern city has been built around the ancient one.
